Thanks Carol for that wonderful expression of your experience with our "Family"!
I too am so grateful to be able to come along side this wonderful family. It was great to visit with them today! When I got there they had never met me, but welcomed me so graciously. The girls are very sweet and respectful. We talked for a little while and Mom fixed some tea. Very delicious! And she was really pleased that we enjoyed it. It was so fun for Carla and I to take the girls to Savers to find an outfit. They really enjoyed trying on clothes, so we could discover what size they are, and soon could find their sizes on the racks. What fun to help them pick out clothes. They will still need some clothes for winter and Mom will need to have a heavier jacket since all she has is a sweater, so I'm sure they will need some more shopping trips someday soon.
Keith, I'm thinking that they will need a day to themselves and Ganga confirmed with Carla that they could probably use a day without a lesson. So I think I'll wait till next week to schedule a time with them again. Mom seems to be able to use the stove and find her way around the kitchen. I also warned them not to put anything metal in the microwave, and they seem to know that.
I'm sure they will be ready for their day at the park. Thanks for all that you all have done to help these folks and show the love of Christ to them. They really seem to appreciate everything that is being done to help them adjust to life here.

Ann and I mentored this afternoon. Took the girls to Savers on 43rd/Dunlap. Was a challenge to figure out their sizes, but Ann did a great job of spotting what worked. They are all still in girl's sizes (7, 12, 12-14 ish). They like their blouses long but that was harder to find in those sizes. Each left with one top/one pair of jeans and some new undies. Kamala opted to stay home...good for her to have some alone time!!! Tika was at appointments. Tara (size 7) needs a better winter coat.

The air conditioner/heater mechanic happened to come by while we were there; changed out the filters and told us that there is no a/c at this time of year because it is a large system that is shut off in the fall and transitioned to heat for the winter. Same thing will happen in the spring. The thermometer in the hallway is broken and he said he'd have it fixed. The knob control is for fan speed only and yes, it's just high or off. Ann explained again about opening up the east side of the house to cool it off but when we returned from Savers, Kamala had it all closed up again and it was hot. So maybe they are okay with that, although I know they have said it was too hot at times. Regardless, the weather is about to change so it won't be an issue until spring.

Ganga also said Tika will need an interview outfit but not for a few weeks. Does anyone know what, if anything, Tika did as work back in Nepal or Bhutan? It will take several weeks yet for their clearances and paperwork. The girls are very scared about school so it'd be great to keep all the conversations positive and encouraging about school. I don't imagine they'll start until January but who knows, their paperwork could wiz right through.

I asked yesterday if they had used the shower and bathed, and if they were brushing their teeth..the girls said yes. I don't know about Kamala and Tika. A task for next week might be cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen with the right cleaners. They are opting to handwash their clothes and hanging them out on the balcony to dry. There is a drying rack in the master bedroom, and I asked them to have Tika put it together. Most apartment complexes have rules against hanging clothes out and if their clothes blow over, they're gone. So it'd be better to use the rack on the balcony, out of sight from the street. They'll still need to learn to use the laundry.

I don't know about the money envelope, Mike and Kathy. Forgot to ask. I did not have time to go by TBC to submit receipts.

Have a restful weekend!
